Cornwall's Choclate Cove

Like most people (if not everyone) I know, I LOVE chocolate.

I was put in touch by MEOR Design with Judy at who owns and runs Cornwall's Chocolate Cove - a vegan friendly, gluten free, RAW chocolate producer here in Cornwall.

Photographing was easy - Judy brings in her chocolate, that already looks amazing, then adds all the raw ingredients around it ready to be snapped. This really does bring the chocolate to life in the photos and you know exactly what you are going to eat.

At the time I didn’t know too much about 'healthy' chocolate but working for a day and half with Judy I was excited by her enthusiasm and passion about chocolate being accessible to everyone. She does some amazing flavours and I cant recommend  the energy balls highly enough. I am addicted!

Luckily she sells direct from her website and locally to me at Trevaskis Farm.

St Enodoc Hotel, Rock, Cornwall

What a great pleasure it was receiving the email to quote for a day of photographing food at the St Enodoc Hotel.
The St Enodoc Hotel privately owned boutique Hotel in hidden away with sweeping views over the Camel estuary, Rock. A very relaxing setting on the North Cornish coast.
The light wasn't great all day as it was grey and gloomy to start then overly bright and sunny - this weather pattern kept yoyo-ing throughout the day making it a lot harder to keep consistent with the natural light shots I enjoy.
However, the perfect setup for the day was arranged by the team at the hotel, food would come out to me to shoot and then be presented to the front of house team to taste with paired wines. A brilliant way to capture your food for all media platforms but also train the staff so they know what will be served.
Head Chef James Nathan has sourced everything within the county and come up with a really nice eclectic mix of flavours and plates for all to enjoy.

Baker Tom's Christmas Catalogue

An afternoon in early November was booked to photograph the new Christmas Catalogue for Baker Tom's. It was a packed brief but we managed to squeeze a lot of shooting in 5 hours.

The natural light was perfect and so were the baked goods! The wintery view from the lovely location added to the 'Christmassy' feel, ideal to capture the seasonal treats.

To my (happy) surprise Baker Tom's now do an amazing sourdough loaf which I was lucky enough to take home and enjoy the following day with some St Ewe free range poached eggs.

I was really happy with the end result and have seen the catalouge and loved it. Nice to see your hard work in print.

Nancarrow Farm 1000 Mouth's Festival

It was great to be able to be at Nancarrow Farm earlier this month to capture the food and atmosphere of their 1000 Mouth's festival. A festival of feasts raising money for Action Against Hunger and promoting sustainable meat consumption, there were plenty of opportunites to catch chefs in action and delicious plates.

Porthleven, Cornwall, UK - 16/10/2017

Being stuck in a bubble of childrens TV at home I didnt see the news about Hurricane Ophelia and headed to a booking in Porthleven nice and early. I was meant to be shooting some holiday apartments and the light looked like it was going to be perfect.

After grabbing a perfectly brewed flat white at Origin Coffee Roasters, Brew House I had a walk around and felt a buzz in the air, not to mention the crazy waves and striking wind.

Camera in hand I sat and watched for quite a few hours.
